PDF Scanner

Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 16, 2026

This Privacy Policy applies to the PDF Scanner Android application (the “App”). It explains how the App accesses and handles documents and related information. PDF Scanner is designed to keep scanned and imported documents on your device.

Documents and content

You may use PDF Scanner to scan, open, view, edit, sign, rename, delete, save, or share PDF documents and to recognize text in images. Document images, PDF content, recognized text, signatures, annotations, and local preferences are processed on your device for these features. We do not upload this content to our servers.

Document scanning and text recognition

The App uses the ML Kit Document Scanner provided through Google Play services and an on-device ML Kit model for Chinese and Latin text recognition. Scanned images and recognized text are processed locally. Google Play services may download required scanning components and may process limited app, device, diagnostic, or performance information according to Google’s policies.

File access

PDF Scanner uses the Android system file picker and Storage Access Framework. The App can access only the files or folders you select and any access Android explicitly grants to the App. It does not request broad “manage all files” access. Scanned or imported working copies may be stored in the App’s private storage.

Sharing and exporting

Documents or recognized text leave the App only when you choose a share or export action and select another application or destination. The receiving application or service handles that information under its own privacy policy.

Accounts, advertising, analytics, and purchases

The current version of PDF Scanner does not require an account and does not include advertising, subscriptions, Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, or first-party usage analytics. If these practices change in a future release, this policy and the App’s Google Play Data safety declaration will be updated before or when the change is released.

How information is used and shared

Local document information is used only to provide the features you request. We do not sell your documents or recognized text. We do not share them with third parties except when you initiate sharing, when a service is required to perform a feature you explicitly request, or when disclosure is required by law.

Security

The App relies on Android application sandboxing, app-private storage, and scoped system file access to limit access to your documents. No method of storage is completely secure, so you should also protect your device, keep important documents backed up, and review the destination before sharing a file.

Data retention and deletion

Documents saved in the App’s private storage remain there until you delete them or uninstall the App. Files in a folder you selected remain under your control in that folder. Removing the App’s folder permission does not delete those original files. When a selected document is writable, using the App’s delete action removes that document after confirmation.

Your choices

You can remove a document from the App, revoke selected-folder access in Android settings, clear the App’s storage, or uninstall the App. Because PDF Scanner does not provide user accounts, account deletion does not apply to the current version.

Children

PDF Scanner is not directed to children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through a support request, contact us so that we can review and delete it where appropriate.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the App’s features or data practices change. The date at the top of this page identifies the latest version.
