PDF Scanner

Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 20, 2026

This Privacy Policy applies to the PDF Scanner Android application (the “App”). It explains how the App accesses and handles documents and related information. PDF Scanner is designed to keep scanned and imported documents on your device.

Documents and content

You may use PDF Scanner to scan, open, view, edit, sign, rename, delete, save, or share PDF documents and to recognize text in images. Document images, PDF content, recognized text, signatures, annotations, and local preferences are processed on your device for these features. We do not upload this content (pages, OCR text, or signature strokes) to our own servers.

Document scanning and text recognition

The App uses the ML Kit Document Scanner provided through Google Play services and an on-device ML Kit model for Chinese and Latin text recognition. Scanned images and recognized text used for scanning and OCR are processed on the device. Google Play services may download required scanning components and may process limited app, device, diagnostic, or performance information according to Google’s policies.

Crash reporting and product analytics

To improve stability and understand feature usage, the App uses Google Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Analytics. These services may collect device and app information such as app version, crash stack traces, and anonymous event names (for example, that a scan started or a document was shared). They are not intended to collect your PDF file names, document text, or signature strokes. Data is processed by Google Firebase according to Google’s terms and privacy policy.

File access

PDF Scanner uses the Android system file picker and Storage Access Framework. The App can access only the files or folders you select and any access Android explicitly grants to the App. It does not request broad “manage all files” access. Scanned or imported working copies may be stored in the App’s private storage.

Sharing and exporting

Documents or recognized text leave the App only when you choose a share or export action and select another application or destination. The receiving application or service handles that information under its own privacy policy.

Accounts

PDF Scanner does not require you to create an account. Documents, recognized text, signatures, and annotations are not associated with a PDF Scanner account or uploaded to our own servers.

Advertising and consent

The free version of PDF Scanner may display Google AdMob App Open ads while the App starts and interstitial ads after a completed document task, such as when you close the PDF reader. Premium subscribers do not receive these ads.

Google Mobile Ads and its advertising partners may process an IP address (which can be used to estimate general location), app interactions, diagnostic information, and device or account identifiers, including the Android advertising ID when available. This information may be used to deliver and measure ads, perform analytics, limit repeated ads, and prevent fraud.

Where required, PDF Scanner uses Google’s User Messaging Platform to request advertising consent before requesting ads. When privacy options are required for your region, you can reopen them from Settings → Privacy choices. Document pages, OCR text, file names, signatures, and annotations are not sent to the advertising SDK.

Subscriptions and purchases

PDF Scanner offers optional auto-renewing Premium subscriptions through Google Play. Google Play processes payment information and may process purchase tokens, product identifiers, subscription status, price, currency, and limited device or Google account information to complete purchases, prevent fraud, and manage subscriptions. PDF Scanner does not receive or store your full payment-card details.

The App receives subscription status from Google Play to unlock Premium features and remove ads. A recent Premium entitlement is cached locally for short offline use and refreshed through Google Play when the App starts or returns to the foreground. Purchase-result analytics record only the selected plan, entry point, and result category; they do not include payment-card details, document content, or the Google Play order number.

Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled. You can view, manage, or cancel a subscription from your Google Play account. Cancellation stops future renewal but does not normally remove access before the end of the paid billing period.

How information is used and shared

Local document information is used only to provide the features you request. Crash and analytics information is used to operate, secure, and improve the App. Advertising information is used to serve and measure ads and prevent fraud. Purchase information is used to provide and restore Premium access. We do not sell your documents or recognized text. We do not share documents with third parties except when you initiate sharing, when a service such as Google Firebase or Google Play services is required to operate the App, or when disclosure is required by law.

Security

The App relies on Android application sandboxing, app-private storage, and scoped system file access to limit access to your documents. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so you should also protect your device, keep important documents backed up, and review the destination before sharing a file.

Data retention and deletion

Documents saved in the App’s private storage remain there until you delete them or uninstall the App. Files in a folder you selected remain under your control in that folder. Removing the App’s folder permission does not delete those original files. When a selected document is writable, using the App’s delete action removes that document after confirmation. Retention of crash, analytics, consent, advertising, and purchase data handled by Google follows the applicable Google policies. The local Premium entitlement cache is replaced when Google Play reports an updated subscription state and is removed when App storage is cleared or the App is uninstalled.

Your choices

You can remove a document from the App, revoke selected-folder access in Android settings, reopen available advertising privacy choices, manage or cancel a subscription in Google Play, clear the App’s storage, or uninstall the App. Because PDF Scanner does not provide user accounts, account deletion does not apply. For privacy questions about information processed by Google, you may also review Google’s privacy tools and contact us at the email below.

Children

PDF Scanner is not directed to children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through a support request, contact us so that we can review and delete it where appropriate.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the App’s features or data practices change. The date at the top of this page identifies the latest version.
